Edit the template's HTML and remove "rel='nofollow'" in this line:
Now I've a good reason to upgrade the software. Sadly I've hacked the template so badly, I doubt it will work with the new version :(

Make a backup of your theme template first in a text file.
Work with a tabbed text editor helps a lot in these situations.
Make the switch over, find a suitable theme, and copy over the modifications from your backup.
You can always setup a new blog and work on the theme until it is how you want it to look, and then make the switch.

Sebastian, don't panic, upgrading is a BREEZE and blogger will a) continue to use your existing CLASSIC layout if you want or b) you can easily upgrade to LAYOUT in about an hour.
Blogger maintains a copy of your classic template under TEMPLATE > EDIT HTML > View Classic Template
It was so simple I don't know why I waited and it's MUCH easier to use in LAYOUT than the classic templates.
